Why a dedicated Enshrouded server

Enshrouded co-op on a listen host works until the host sleeps, updates mid-session, or sits behind residential CGNAT. Friends time out, base progress stalls, and someone always asks whether the world is online. A dedicated Enshrouded instance on GlassHosting (Glass Gaming — powered by GlassHosting) stays on in a datacenter so the group can join on their own schedule.

Order, then open the game panel

After checkout, open your Enshrouded service in panel.glasshosting.com. Note the allocated public IP and the query port shown for the service. You will share that address with friends later—do not invent a home router port forward.

Configure name and role password groups before first start

Enshrouded uses role-based password groups (for example Admin, Friend, and Guest). In the panel startup / configuration variables—or via File Manager / SFTP in the server JSON when your plan exposes it:

• Server name — something your friends will recognize in the server browser.
• Admin / Friend / Guest passwords — change defaults before inviting anyone. Share only the password that matches the access level you intend.
• Player slots — keep within your plan; do not oversell peak concurrency on day one.

Do not leave factory default passwords on a public-facing Enshrouded server. Treat each group password like any other shared secret, and keep Admin off public Discord channels.

Query ports Enshrouded actually uses

Friends find and join Enshrouded with the query port (and any accompanying game ports listed in the panel)—not a guessed home LAN address. On GlassHosting the panel shows your assigned allocation.

You do not need to configure home router forwarding for a GlassHosting dedicated server—the datacenter path already publishes the allocation. If friends still cannot join, verify you shared the panel IP and query port, that the server console shows the host/session online, and that they are using the correct group password. Start clean and watch the console

1. Click Start in the panel.
2. Watch the console until the host/session reports online.
3. Do not invite the full group while the process is still installing or mid-boot.

If boot fails, stop, re-check server name and password groups, and start again. Avoid rapid restart loops that interrupt saves.

How friends join

Friends connect from Enshrouded’s server browser or direct connect using:

• The public IP from the panel
• The query port shown for the service
• The password for their role group (Friend vs Guest, etc.)

Have one trusted friend smoke-test before you announce to everyone. Confirm they load into the correct world and that building/combat feels normal. If only Admin can join, you likely shared the wrong group password.

Saves and backups

World/save files live under the server file system. Before experiments, major config edits, or file surgery:

• Stop the server cleanly from the panel so saves flush.
• Download save folders via File Manager or SFTP, or create a named panel backup.
• Keep role passwords documented privately so you can restore access after a restore.
