Set eula.txt to True on Your Minecraft Server
MinecraftBeginner
Why startup stops here
Mojang requires you to accept the End User License Agreement before a dedicated Minecraft server runs. Until eula.txt contains eula=true, the process exits and friends cannot join, even if the panel shows the service “installed.”
Steps on GlassHosting
- Open your Minecraft server on panel.glasshosting.com.
- Stop the process if it is crash-looping on EULA.
- Open the file manager (or connect with SFTP) and edit
eula.txtin the server root. - Change the line to exactly
eula=true(no quotes). Save. - Start the server. Watch the console for a clean boot ending near “Done”.
If the file is missing, start once so the jar creates it, stop, edit, and start again. Do not share SFTP passwords when asking friends to “fix” the join address.
Common mistakes
eula=Trueoreula = truewith spaces. Useeula=true.- Editing the wrong server instance when you have multiple products.
- Assuming Bedrock uses the same file: Bedrock dedicated flows differ; this guide is for Java
eula.txt.
Verify / done
- Console no longer exits immediately citing the EULA.
- You can join with the panel IP:port (or hostname) on a matching client version.
- Next: whitelist and a named backup before mods (see related guides below).
